PoorBest
The night stretches out hopelessly
like an eternity of darkness,
that blinds us to the truth
and hides from us all illumination
save a glint of shining silver light
way off into the horizon
desperately fumbling
we reach for the star,
hoping for a saviour
walking miles to find him
and sacrificing sanity
to find that lustrous solace
the hints of precious silver
tangible now
polished shining metal,
the only light in this void
the razor blades glint
with a counterfeit enchantment
like candy coloured pills to a child
drawn to their destruction
mesmerized by the way they
whisper softly across the skin
leaving fierce trails
of angry ruby droplets, so precious
sapping her strength
to stain the cloths of Heaven a brilliant red
as her own world fades to black
and she slips into the night
unheard.
